Lucky, bloody you!
Qatar reels after Villagio fire kills nineteen.

“Nineteen expats have been killed, including 13 children and 2 firefighters, in a fire at Villaggio Mall that residents are calling Qatar’s biggest tragedy in recent memory.” This is not only a tragedy it is a travesty. The mall has no sprinkler system nor was their any overtly obvious fire alarm or smoke detectors. Those that managed to hear the ‘soft buzz’ of the alarm though it another test or false alarm. Fire doors have been padlocked and authorities, both security and police failed to order an evacuation for nearly a quarter of an hour. 13 toddlers died in this fire, including triplets, and the teachers with the kids at a day care center.

Two managers of the mail, which is managed by Tzoulios Tzouliou were arrested and remain in custody pending investigation. Apparently Civil Defence Firefighters wasted valuable time trying to locate the day care center as there were no reliable maps or diagrams available. While I share the feeling that such mis-management should be punished, the real fault lies with Gondolania Entertainment, the developr of the complex and most importantly with Abdul Aziz Mohammed Al-Rabban, the owner. Ultimately, he bears responsibility for the utter disregard for safety. He should be in jail and his property nationalized, but instead he will no doubt be praised to Allah, and given money to rebuild.

Except, you know, new representatives would STILL be bought out by corporations. Why would they listen to us, when we, the people, have no money to offer them if they vote in our favor?

No doubt, however if the term limits are placed in effect, it does prevent some of these guys getting so powerful that they can move mountains. These guys would be less ‘helpful’ to businesses as it would be a short term contract only.

Dis-occupy Congress

The 99 percent are understandably frustrated, but these shenenigans will have no effect. The 1 percent are totally insulated from this noise and it will fall on deaf ears. We need to remember that Congress is part of the 1 percent, and we can move them from that position if the 99 percent had any brains at all. Stop dancing in the streets and protesting, and campaign to vote out every single member of the Congress. With-in 6 years we would have all new faces and little or no resistance to term limits. We would be back to the citizen legislatures envisioned by our founding fathers, and be done with the professional politicians. That is the true power of numbers. Do not re-elect anyone who has served before. You always cut the rot away and a little of the good to aviod re-contamination. Remember that any good that your local congressman or senator did was for the 1 percent of his consituancy,(the ones that go to the $10,000 per plate dinner fundraisers), and not the 99 percent who suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
